Tasks
I am a PhD student at NERSC and will be contributing to some extent to the BCPU's RA2: "Data Assimilation for Improved Predictions". Concretely, I use remote sensing data to assess how algae blooms develop in the North and Norwegian seas, and create machine learning methods for predicting harmful algae blooms.

What are you most excited about with this project?
The possibility of my work being very useful to the fishery and aquaculture industries, where my results could help avoid or mitigate impacts caused by harmful algae blooms.

What do you see as your biggest challenge for now?
Calibrate a machine learning algorithm that predicts harmful algae blooms in weeks or months in advance.
